Mana Gallery Artists
The Mana Gallery represents established and emerging Rapa Nui artists, as well as some Chilean artists living and working on the island. The artists represented work in all media. Rapa Nui has a vast number of talented individuals, including especially wood carvers and makers of shell jewelry. The traditional arts also include body painting, working in fiber and fabric, and tattoo. There are many outlets on the island for Rapa Nui artists, and special commissions in such areas as monumental sculpture are not uncommon. However, our focus is to make our archaeological knowledge and data available in such a way that it may enrich local artistry and create an environment in which innovation may occur and individuality expressed while, at the same time, truth and tradition are honored.
